Offered for your consideration is this Antique Raised Panel Quarter Sawn Oak Courting Deacon's Bench in Original Finish. It features a raised panel back frame embellished with acanthus carving and beading of which none are missing.
This back panel sits atop a decorative winged center support that adds more dimension and openwork to this little masterpiece. It also features a storage seat that hinges at the back and is scalloped at the front edge. The back stiles of the bench are topped off with a flared beveled cap then a beautifully carved and turned finial. Arms carry a gentle flare as they extend outward and have a subtle curve at the front. The rays and fleck of the quarter sawn oak are fascinating. Back side center has a number 142 1/2. Measurements: 40" wide x 40" high x 18 deep.Disclosures: small amount of white paint transfer on the lateral side lower end on one of the front supports (best viewed in photo #4) and slight original finish wear on the seat.
